Ka Hoʻokele

Expanding Hawaii’s public transportation system.

The Hele-On Ka Hoʻokele Rural Transportation Program connects riders to the Hele-On service network.

HCEOC is a service operator of Hele-On Ka Hoʻokele (“The Navigator”), a program of the County of Hawaiʻi Mass Transit Agency designed to expand access to the Hele-On network.

Ka Hoʻokele is free to the public and primarily transports riders from outside Hele-On service areas (areas where riders can access Hele-On fixed routes, Hele-On Kako‘o paratransit routes, and Coordinated Services for the Elderly), to bus or paratransit stops within service areas.

Guidelines

Ka Hoʻokele mainly transports riders from a pick-up location outside the Hele-On network to the nearest bus or paratransit stop; please let us know if you require other accommodations.

Before booking, please note the following scheduling guidelines:

Reserve your ride online between 1 and 14 days in advance. Reservations are confirmed in the order they are received and same-day reservations are limited to availability.

Change or cancel your reservation online at least two hours before your scheduled pick-up. Upon arrival, drivers will wait five minutes before departing.

Schedule your pickup at an accessible location. We do not travel on private, unpaved, or single-lane roads, or on roads that present potentially unsafe conditions for vehicles, drivers, and riders.
