Emergency Rental Assistance Program

On November 1, the County of Hawai’i announced that the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), of which HCEOC is a nonprofit provider, will begin winding down.

At this time the ERAP portal is closed to new applications.

Applications received prior to the program’s pause in August 2022 will continue to be processed in the order they were submitted, with priority given to households facing eviction or utility shutoff, or who have an unemployed adult in their household and are at risk of homelessness.

Visit the Hawai’i County ERAP website for more information or contact our ERAP Office with questions.

About ERAP

The Hawaii County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) was established in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As renters in Hawaii County experienced financial setbacks due to pandemic-related impacts like unemployment, ERAP provided utility and/or rental assistance for households whose income had been affected directly or indirectly by COVID-19.

HCEOC was part of a team of nonprofit organizations in Hawaii County distributing federal relief funds through ERAP.
