The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a federal program of the Department of Energy administered by HCEOC under the Office of Community Services. WAP was established to reduce energy burden on low-income households through education and home weatherization.
The goal of weatherization is to improve elements of your home in ways that increase energy efficiency and decrease energy costs. Energy-efficient alternatives are all examples of weatherization. WAP auditors assess your home’s energy output and share strategies to reduce utility costs based on your household’s specific needs.
Program Requirements
You may qualify if any of the following conditions applies to you:
- You or someone in your household collects Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- You or someone in your household collects Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Your total annual household income is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline
