HCEOC is proud to be a nonprofit partner distributing federal relief funds through the Hawai‘i County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). ERAP benefits households whose income has been impacted directly by COVID-19 by providing up to 12 total months of utility and/or rental assistance between March 2020 and December 2021.
To be eligible for ERAP, applicants must:
- Take primary residence in the County of Hawai‘i as a renter (homeowners do not qualify for rental or utility assistance)
- Earn at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI) (see below)
- Verify proof of hardship due to COVID-19 for each month they receive assistance
Priority will be given to households with annual incomes less than 50% AMI with one or more members that have been unemployed for at least 90 days. Payments for approved applicants will be made directly to the landlord, property manager, or utility company. Approved applicants will also have access to financial counseling and housing stability services.
FY 2020 annual Area Median Income (AMI) Low-Income Limit (LIL)
To qualify for ERAP, your annual income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), calculated below based on your household size. If your annual income is higher than the level listed for your household size, your application cannot be approved for an ERAP grant.
